in direct-hire and contract staffing. However, contracting is
and Insurance & Real Estate. Healthcare was the number-one
industry for placements made through Top Echelon Contracting
in 2008. It comprised 37% of all contract placements. Right

“Healthcare, IT, and Engineering & Manufacturing continue to
flourish,” said Debbie Fledderjohann, President of Top Echelon
Contracting. “Companies in these industries have long found
contract workers to be of value, regardless of the economy.
However, companies in other industries are starting to realize
the benefits associated with contract workers, especially the
cost savings.”
Finance & Accounting comprised 8% of contract placements,
while Legal, HR, & Recruiting and Insurance & Real Estate both
accounted for 5%. “We’re seeing growth in contracting almost
across the board,” said Fledderjohann. “This kind of information
bodes well for 2009. While direct-hire placements seem to be
falling, contract placements could remain strong throughout
2009 and 2010. We’re excited about the possibilities that exist
for continued growth.”
Once again, Healthcare placements continue to thrive, both in direct-hire and contract staffing. However, contracting is also becoming prevalent in areas of the economy where direct-hire job orders are drying up, such as Finance & Accounting and Insurance & Real Estate. Healthcare was the number-one industry for placements made through Top Echelon Contracting in 2008. It comprised 37% of all contract placements. Right behind Healthcare were Information Technology at 17% and Engineering & Manufacturing at 12%.
